Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Sports Personality Prize

Announced recently

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The three finalists have been celebrated for their exceptional achievements over the past 12 months.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The finalists were unveiled on a popular morning radio program.

The champion will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.

The event will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to winning the Euros.

She came off the bench to score crucial late equalisers in both the last eight and last four matches.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the top young European talent.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a privilege," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler kicked off the year in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the youngest darts world champion in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

His success continued - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the very first time.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, shattering the previous record.

"Being nominated for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm truly honoured to be named a finalist for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
