Enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the launch of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined can get a head start the full month. A exciting demo version will go live on January 7th, offering a generous taste into the game's beginning segments. Critically, all advancement achieved within this demo can be imported directly into the full game upon its subsequent debut.
This project constitutes a ground-up reimagining of the iconic 2000 JRPG, first known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a significant departure from other series re-releases, such as the previously launched HD-2D versions, this version adopts a striking three-dimensional aesthetic. These alterations are aimed at mitigate one of the original game's common criticisms: its immense length. That initial main quest was known to require more than 100 hours to see through. This new edition has been specifically structured to enhance progression and cut down on perceived filler.
Curious adventurers can start experiencing the transformed world of DQ7 for themselves when the free demo becomes available on Wednesday, January 7th. The full game, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, will then be set to release on 5th February 2026. It will be available on a broad range of systems, including Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X.
