England's Bowling Consultant Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation

Tim Southee's last Test for the Kiwis was against the English side in December 2024.

England's fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.

The ex- New Zealand pace bowler is expected to be present for the first Test due to his involvement in the ILT20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the UAE.

Southee, 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.

Commenting as England's team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was announced, he stated of his availability: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.

"We'll see what happens over the coming days."

English pace icon Broad had stated the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which starts on November 21.

"I don't think there's at any time a poor Australian cricket team," Southee remarked.

"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [the English] side that's going out to the host country is excellent.

"It ought to be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."

However, prior to England head to Perth for the first Ashes match, they take on the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
