Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
