American Armed Forces Executes Lethal Strike in Pacific, Resulting in 4 Deaths

According to a high-ranking defense spokesperson, the US armed forces executed a lethal kinetic engagement on a vessel in the Pacific Ocean, killing four individuals.

“Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a deadly attack on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization in open sea. Surveillance verified the vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. A total of four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were injured.”

Background and Prior Actions

This announcement comes a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela. That statement on online platforms, the US president accused Venezuela of using oil revenues to fund drug trafficking and criminal activities, vowing to escalate the military presence.

Just on the previous day, the Pentagon stated it had carried out strikes on three boats it accused of trafficking drugs in the Pacific, killing eight people. Beginning on 2 September, more than 20 strikes have killed at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.

Administration Defends Actions Amidst Pressure

The government has faced growing pressure to release video of a 2 September vessel attack. But, officials have declined to do so. The administration has defended its efforts as a successful operation, arguing it has prevented drugs from entering US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is stretching the bounds of lawful warfare.

While the administration has stated the campaign is about halting drugs destined for the US, comments from a senior aide appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical objective. In a recent interview, the chief of staff remarked the president “aims to keep on blowing boats up until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”

This suggests the military campaign may be part of a push to remove Venezuela's sitting leadership.
